History
John O’Shea founded the O’Shea family business over a century ago in 1902. In the early years, this one-man, home-based, carpenter shop in Springfield, Illinois focused on smaller projects including renovations and additions for homes until lumber became unavailable during World War II.
After the war, Harold O’Shea Builders started working as a smaller residential contractor and eventually developed into a full-service general contractor. Today, over 70 percent of the company’s volume is in Design-Build and Construction Management. Projects range from modest renovations to projects in excess of $40 million.
Currently, Harold O’Shea Builders is recognized as one of the largest general contracting/building firms in the Springfield, Illinois area, covering over a 100 mile radius. More than 40 core professionals are employed at Harold O’Shea Builders, and up to 130 skilled individuals are employed during peak season. Although Harold O’Shea Builders remains family owned, a number of key employees have been promoted into management because of their long-term role in the business and their high level of experience.
Over the generations, Harold O’Shea Builders' success can be attributed to the relationships they cultivate with their clients - each built on a foundation of integrity, high standards and quality workmanship. With a diverse portfolio, a strong heritage and positive work ethic, the company predicts continued growth in projects, volume and geographical service coverage in the years to come. |
