New Project: Washington Middle School
June 7, 2012 5:38 PM

Harold O’Shea Builders started renovations on Washington Middle School, 2300 East Jackson Street in Springfield, in May.

As part of the project, the school’s original furnace will be replaced with a new geo-thermal HVAC system with automatic temperature controls, providing air conditioning in the building for the first time since the school’s opening in 1957. Studies have shown that indoor air quality can impact student performance.

The project also includes miscellaneous plumbing, fire alarm and electrical improvements.

The renovation is expected to be completed by fall 2013.
